Chris Ralphs Architects is a design led architect practice based in Newcastle under Lyme with a developing portfolio which is largely private client based.
We are committed to quality design. We believe architecture should change the way you live, work and feel. It should inspire and embrace a better quality of living through excellent design and advances in new technology. Ultimately though, architecture is about people.
By establishing a close working relationship with all our clients, we aim to produce buildings that maximise space and light to create a contemporary design specific to our client’s needs. We always seek to question the brief and through this analysis emerges a solution that surpasses our clients original expectations.
As a practice, we have a personal interest in the re-use and remodelling of existing buildings that explore the relationship between the contemporary and historic. The importance of the retention and sustenance of existing structures leads to our interest in building conservation, repair and detail of connections between old and new.
Chris Ralphs Ba(Hons)BArch RIBA trained at The Manchester School of Architecture and graduated with First Class Honours. Again graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Architecture, he then successfully passed the Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice and qualified as an Architect in 2012. In 2013, he gained accreditation by The Royal Institute of British Architects as a Chartered Architect.
Chris, as the principal director of the practice, has gained considerable knowledge and experience working on a number of high end residential schemes at Ian Simpson Architects and John McAslan + Partners that have received national awards for design excellence ranging from £200,000 to £150M before finally setting up Chris Ralphs Architects as a private limited company.
As RIBA Chartered Architects, we provide a service that extends well beyond producing a set of drawings. We can guide the client through the complex procedures of planning permission and building regulations and monitor the builder's programme of works to completion through regular site visits. We are adept at identifying the aspirations and needs of clients and will bring knowledge and experience to a project. Not only can we provide value for money, but professional attention to detail will achieve value through the most efficient use of space, and careful selection of materials and finishes.
When you use an Architect you are employing someone who has undertaken seven years of professional training, the longest in the building industry. Anyone styling themselves 'building consultant', 'architectural designer', 'plan drawer' and so on is unlikely to be an Architect, and does not have comparable skills, imagination or knowledge.
