We were appointed to obtain outline planning consent for residential use of site formally used for rentable garages.
Following a quick feasibility study, a simple scheme was designed that permitted (4) 2 bedroom dwellings.
The immediate context is predominantly terraced housing typology. Rather than creating something pastiche, the simple scheme creates a contemporary approach to terraced housing yet retains elements that are familiar of the past.
Each dwelling is gently set back from another to respond to the urban grain but to give each property almost its own identity; something which is lost in a traditional terraced block.
